On an ordinary evening, someone found him by the side of the road: a puppy with a crushed paw, skinned to the bone, infected and inflamed. He was vomiting. He wouldn’t eat. Slowly, he was fading away.
He was rushed to the shelter, and our vets immediately began the fight to save his life. We named him Plopi — because he deserves a childhood among trees, not beneath the wheels of a car.
Sana the Golden
She’s almost 5 years old, with golden fur that looks like it was kissed by the sun. That’s why we call her Sana the Golden. She’s gentle, sweet, and always watching people – not for play, but for a quiet, honest moment of affection.

She lives at Adăpostul Speranța, where she is safe, but she dreams of more: someone to love her from afar and ensure her a dignified old age.

With his brindle coat and calm walk, Bilă isn’t the kind of dog who demands attention. He won’t jump on you or tug at your sleeve — he simply looks you in the eye, and somehow, you understand: he just wants not to be forgotten.
Barika
She’s almost 13 years old, with gentle eyes that speak louder than words and a heart as big as a lifetime. Barika doesn’t chase balls anymore, but she always comes running for a little bit of love.
Maimuța
In the urban jungle lives a rare creature: our little Monkey! She doesn’t swing from tree to tree, but she jumps straight into your bed, your arms, and your heart. White with yellow fur, fluffy, and with the attitude of a pack queen — she’s closer to a jungle ruler than a regular monkey.

Cocuta feels she needs people, but is also afraid of them. She’s very gentle and friendly with acquaintances, but fearful of strangers. Her eyes and her whole body say to any passer-by, “Come here and give me that love!”, but when the person approaches, Cocuta crawls into the henhouse and looks at him like this. Without a sound, she just stares at him and thinks what if. What if there was more courage in the world. For her, more courage to approach people. For people, more courage to come closer to her for good and give her, in their family, that trust and warmth that Cocuta needs so much.

Fox genuinely and unabashedly loathes people other than those who feed and care for him on a daily basis, and he signals this with intense and aggressive barking.
Iulica
Iulica is a 10 year old female who has been a cheerful puppy ever since we have known her. Always upbeat and energetic, always eager to play and share, she is a never-ending source of good humor, relaxation and fun. When she does manage to stop and hold on to some of that energy, she’s also very affectionate and clingy.

Eva is 7 years old. She is very well-behaved and loving. Eva is the mommy heroine who ended up with 8 puppies in the shelter, having rescued each one when someone in a backyard dumped them all in a field, far from where they had been born.
Dyani
Technically, this is Dyani and he’s a small wolf. A wolf in appearance only, of course, because behaviorally he’s the most gentle and domestic dog we’ve ever seen.
Colț
Colt’s as pretty as a picture. And like a painting he has sat and waited, almost motionless, day after day, for almost 13 years, for someone to save him.
Albano
Albano is a special little puppy, one of those puppies that look straight into your heart. Saved from the middle of the road by a family of Italians who had come to Romania, he and his sisters, Romina and Sofia, arrived at the shelter with the hope that they would be given a chance at a better life.
Maronică
Pictured is Maronică. He grew up tormented, chained and isolated from the people he would have needed affection and socialization from. Now he’s very afraid of people, but he’s a warm and harmless little wimp, never bites.
Mișu
Mișu broke our hearts. We don’t know what happened to him in the public shelter in Târgu Jiu, but he is now in a deep depression.
He sits like this for hours, in the farthest corner of the paddock, with his head against a wall, like an ostrich.
Emil
Emil comes from the shelter in Târgu Jiu and has definitely been beaten. He’s very scared, and when our employees are nearby, he freaks out. He’ll get into a corner and shake like jelly until it passes.
Emil will have his work cut out for him in the Messengers of Hope program and he needs your support.
Fănel
Fănel is the ugliest, but also the nicest dog from Târgu Jiu public shelter.
The only one with a real chance of being adopted on the spot. He’s a good, well-balanced dog who’s been through a lot and has fought and fought.
Eros
Eros, who came to us from the public shelter in Târgu Jiu, can’t believe he’s being petted. That people speak to him kindly and gently, that they care about him.
He’s a tall, handsome dog, almost addicted to affection. After all, he seems to have missed so much.
Mioara
This little beauty used to roam the streets of a village near Bucharest. Although she wasn’t bothering anyone, someone decided she was a problem — probably just because she was too big. People started chasing her away, throwing stones, and threatening her every day. There was no going back.
Biță
Biță is 16 and quite happy in the shelter, unlike most of the other residents. How did he do it? Well, he’s a true stoic and knows that happiness is built from the inside out, not the other way around.
Luca
His name is Luca, but he doesn’t live on the second floor. Luca doesn’t even know that there are beings that live on top of each other, in blocks of flats. What’s more, he doesn’t even know that beings are supposed to have a home of their own. We bet he’s always wondering where the Hope employees go when they leave, but he can’t fathom that they have a family other than him.
Țuța
That’s how Țuța is when she wants to break someone’s heart. Unfortunately, she has quite a few visitors at the shelter lately, so from her perspective, few hearts to break.
Delia
Delia is an elderly, gentle, and calm little dog. She doesn’t ask much from life anymore – just peace, care, and a bit of love.
Boris
I’m Boris, they call me Boris the Robot. I have received many gifts over the years at Hope. Almost all of them have been thanks to your generosity, people who I know follow the page, because I know there are no such things as an estate. I remember, for example, some “Forrest Gump” exterior rods that helped me, at the time, regain my normal, proud gait.
Lauda
She is about 4 years old and an incredibly good mom. What’s more, with her perfect gentleness and calm, she’s also a great friend to any human. Maybe even for you, if you decide you want to adopt a dog that is already an adult, i.e. already educated in many ways, already balanced.
Venus
We wish you a day like Venus’s day today. Venus had a good day. She ran, she sunbathed, she played in the water, she frolicked with dog friends and human friends, and the tongue sticking out of an elbow in the photo shows you, we think, that she experienced it all to the fullest.

If “best yard dog” contests were organized in Romania, Costi here would win them all. He is a big, beautiful, brave and active dog. With the people he knows he’s the sweetest Pekingese, but those who want to jump the fence he’ll deal with more seriously and angrily.

He is Cluj , he is 9 years old, and was brought by the Hope emergency team from Cluj.
Cici
When s-someone passes in front of Cici’s paddock, her darling puts herself in this position and turns into a stone pillar. Or, well, fur, because that sounds better. She doesn’t move a muscle except for her eyes to watch what you’re about to do.

Bobby is 7 years old and is the kind of dog that used to hang out in front of the stairs with the gossipy and voluble tenants of the block.

I’m Aka and life hasn’t been kind to me and neither have the people in it. I’m 12 and I’ve never loved anyone. I’m withdrawn and scared, and I carry the trauma of 10 lifetimes, not one.
