Poor Lăbuș was mistreated and confiscated by the police, then brought to us. Unfortunately we had to amputate one of his legs because of the trauma he had suffered earlier.
But on cool, sunny May afternoons, you sometimes find that one less leg means more sun-warmed belly area and one more reason to laze around when others are running.
Hand or foot up those of you who hate jogging!

Every dog at Speranța Shelter deserves food, warmth, medical care and love, whether they find a home next month or spend many more years with us.
Dogs like Lăbuș often wait the longest for a home. Whether or not Lăbuș ever finds a forever family, your sponsorship means they never go without.
Although your sponsorship is linked to Lăbuș, your donation also helps us care for every dog at Speranța Shelter. Together, we make sure no rescued dog is ever left without the essentials they need.
By sponsoring Lăbuș, you’re helping provide:
Press the button below to start sponsoring Lăbuș
Tell us a little about you, choose how much you'd like to give each month and for how long (minimum 3 months), then confirm with your first payment. After that, it's automatic, nothing more for you to do.
Once your sponsorship begins, we'll send you a welcome email followed by regular updates and photos, so you can see how Lăbuș is doing and the difference your support is making.
If you’d rather make a single contribution instead of sponsoring monthly, you can make a one-off donation to support Lăbuș.
Your gift will help cover the cost of food, veterinary care, shelter and everything else they need throughout the year.
Unlike monthly sponsorship, this option does not include regular updates or a dedicated sponsorship relationship with Lăbuș. It’s simply another meaningful way to help provide the care they deserve.
Every year, thousands of dogs are abandoned on the streets of Romania.
Many eventually arrive at Speranța Shelter after suffering neglect, illness or abuse. While we work tirelessly to find every dog a loving home, some simply wait much longer than others.
Older dogs, dogs with disabilities, and those carrying emotional scars are often overlooked despite having so much love to give.
Sponsorship allows dogs like Lăbuș to receive everything they need for as long as they’re with us. It also helps us continue rescuing the next stray dog with nowhere else to go.
For more than 20 years, Speranța Shelter has been rescuing, treating and caring for abandoned dogs in Romania.
Today, more than 500 dogs rely on us every day for food, medical treatment, rehabilitation and a safe place to live while they wait for a forever home.
Every sponsorship helps us continue this work.
