Oreo's story

Oreo has a face you could never forget. But a past he wishes he could.

With his beautiful spotted coat and one-of-a-kind markings, Oreo is impossible to miss. But behind his unique appearance is a dog who has been through far too much.

Rescued from the terrible conditions of a public shelter in Romania, Oreo arrived at Speranța frightened and unsure of the world around him.

Today, he’s finally safe and receiving the love and care he deserves. But Oreo is still timid around new people, and learning to trust again takes time.

We’re helping him discover that not every human hand brings fear, and that he finally has a place where he can feel safe enough to shine.

Oreo has found safety. Now, he needs time to find his confidence.

HOW DOES SPONSORSHIP WORK?

Set-up your sponsorship

Tell us a little about you, choose your monthly amount and confirm your sponsorship with your first payment. After that, it’s automatic, nothing more for you to do.

Receive updates

Once your sponsorship begins, we'll send you a welcome email with your sponsorship certificate. Every month, you'll receive updates and photos, so you can see how Oreo is doing and the difference your support is making.

Manage your sponsorship

You can manage your donation by accessing the Donor Portal from the emails confirming your monthly payment. You can edit or cancel your sponsorship anytime.

Why dogs like Oreo need sponsors

Every year, thousands of dogs are abandoned on the streets of Romania.

Many eventually arrive at Speranța Shelter after suffering neglect, illness or abuse. While we work tirelessly to find every dog a loving home, some simply wait much longer than others.

Older dogs, dogs with disabilities, and those carrying emotional scars are often overlooked despite having so much love to give.

Sponsorship allows dogs like Oreo to receive everything they need for as long as they’re with us. It also helps us continue rescuing the next stray dog with nowhere else to go.

Today, more than 500 dogs rely on us every day for food, medical treatment, rehabilitation and a safe place to live while they wait for a forever home.
