Sponsor Umbra

Become Umbra's hero, even from afar

Umbra and her 10 puppies are in great need of support!

They were rescued from the “shelter of horror” in Târgu Jiu, where they lived in cold, filth, and fear. Umbra was so terrified that she couldn’t take care of her puppies, but now, with our help, she is starting to regain her motherly instincts and look after them.

Caring for 11 souls is not easy: treatments, food, a clean shelter, and lots of attention. You can be part of their rescue through long-distance adoption – by supporting the monthly expenses for Umbra or one of her puppies.

Every bit of help matters and gives them the chance at a normal life!

How your sponsorship helps Umbra

Every dog at Speranța Shelter deserves food, warmth, medical care and love, whether they find a home next month or spend many more years with us.

Dogs like Umbra often wait the longest for a home. Whether or not Umbra ever finds a forever family, your sponsorship means they never go without.

Although your sponsorship is linked to Umbra, your donation also helps us care for every dog at Speranța Shelter. Together, we make sure no rescued dog is ever left without the essentials they need.

By sponsoring Umbra, you’re helping provide:

  • Nutritious meals every day
  • Veterinary care, including check-ups, medication and treatment whenever needed
  • A safe place to live, with warm shelter during Romania's cold winters
  • Exercise, enrichment and companionship to keep them healthy and happy
  • Special care, rehabilitation or mobility support if their condition requires it

Prefer to make a one-off gift?

If you’d rather make a single contribution instead of sponsoring monthly, you can make a one-off donation to support Umbra.

Your gift will help cover the cost of food, veterinary care, shelter and everything else they need throughout the year.

Unlike monthly sponsorship, this option does not include regular updates or a dedicated sponsorship relationship with Umbra. It’s simply another meaningful way to help provide the care they deserve.

Why dogs like Umbra need sponsors

Every year, thousands of dogs are abandoned on the streets of Romania.

Many eventually arrive at Speranța Shelter after suffering neglect, illness or abuse. While we work tirelessly to find every dog a loving home, some simply wait much longer than others.

Older dogs, dogs with disabilities, and those carrying emotional scars are often overlooked despite having so much love to give.

Sponsorship allows dogs like Umbra to receive everything they need for as long as they’re with us. It also helps us continue rescuing the next stray dog with nowhere else to go.
